Dickie & Moore were appointed by CRGP on behalf of Dundonald House Nursing Home to complete a new build 40 bed care on the grounds of and adjacent to the existing 46 bed care home.
The project was managed by Dickie & Moore to ensure the ongoing 24 hour operations of the existing care home were not affected. This proved particularly challenging given the restricted working area and single track access road. Access for emergency vehicles had to be considered prior to all operations which meant the tight programme was a challenge right from the start.
Key considerations for the build were energy usage and performance, fire prevention in a care environment, the balance between security and fire escape and the ease of movement and comfort of the residents around the home both internally and externally.
To heat the facility, a ground source heat pump system was installed and to power it, a new 3 phase 200kVA electrical supply was installed.
The care home is now fully operational with all bedrooms occupied.< back to projects
